This is why I never sleep.
Me: Seriously though, I'll finish this chapter and then I'll go to sleep.
A Song of Ice and Fire book: Next up is a Jaime chapter!
Me: Okay, ONE more chapter, then I really will sleep.
A Song of Ice and Fire book: Next is finally another Arya chapter!
Me: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU---

A Dance with Dragons - Reek feels
OMG Reek.  I just want to hold you BB.  Don’t cry.  Your name rhymes with I LOVE YOU. Next time on “George R.R. Martin makes you love characters you previously hated…”

White people racism shock collars
I feel like whenever the blogs I follow tag posts with stuff like “why white people?” I cringe and tuck my tail between my legs and slowly roll my sleeves over my pasty ass arms.  Us white folks need to come attached with racism shock collars.  When we do or say something racist, we get the worst shock, everyone in our family gets a slightly less bad one, but white folks everywhere...

A Dance with Dragons initial feels (spoiler-free)
I am just not engaging with this book on the level that I have the others.  Everyone warned me that A Feast for Crows would be the most tedious, but so far Dragons just hasn’t gripped me in the same way as the others.  Now, I’m barely a third of the way through, and there was one chapter (REEK OMG) that has blown me away so far.  Otherwise, even the Big Martin Twist in the First Third...

Thoughts on Margaery Tyrell
ASoIaF books 1 - 4 spoilers under the cut. [[MORE]] Before I had read the books, I had seen most of season 2, including the Renly + Margaery “sex” scene.  Most of my friends who had read the book expressed a slight discomfort with how brazen she was, considering her to be much more demure in the books.  However, having read all of books 1-4 (and plowing through Dragons at the...

White people
I don’t think my (white, obviously) friends appreciate the fact that when I am calling out white people, either facetiously or truthfully (and mostly both at the same time) I am absolutely not exempting myself from whatever generalization I am making.  Just because I recognize my privilege does not make me above it.  That would kind of defeat the purpose of acknowledging it, actually.  So...

Quick Rant (please don't hate me, TWD fandom)
You guys realize that George R.R. Martin published the first A Song of Ice and Fire book in 1996, right?  And that the prologue includes wights (zombies)? And that Kirkman’s first Walking Dead comic wasn’t issued until 2003?  And that lurching zombies have been a big part of popular media since Romero’s Night of the Living Dead in 1968?  And that Game of Thrones is overall a...

Finished A Feast for Crows (spoiler-free)
And I have to say, I can’t really hate any character in this whole damn series. Maybe Gregor.  Maybe Joffrey. But EVEN Joffrey has this tragicky backstory of being unloved and unacknowledged by his father(s) and his mother just telling him he can do whatever he wants when he’s king.  Oh, and there are some minor characters I of course don’t like, but they are just villains to...
